The Rookies

The Rookies came to Envy Labs looking to completely redesign their platform.

The Rookies is a community for digital artists in the making; only students and non-professionals are allowed. They host multiple contests each year for artists to win prizes, but are best known for The Rookie Awards every spring.

I worked alongside Envy Labs' Creative Director to first design the wireframes and then the full site.

Hands became a major theme, stemming from the idea of this being a platform to lend a “helping hand” to new students in the Rookies community.

Users are also able to “high five” each other on their projects.

I worked closely with our back-end and front-end developers to make
sure the design and development came together harmoniously.

The Rookies platform is very robust, allowing users to create profiles and upload projects to essentially have their own portfolio site while they work towards becoming professionals.

It also includes a separate portal for judges to use during contests.

This was an incredible learning experience, I loved being able to create something for the global art
and design community, and the clients were so happy with the result. It was truly a team effort.
